Hello? Where did February go? I can't believe that two months of the new year are already gone. It almost makes me have a panic attack!
We had a great weekend here in SC. Yesterday was a beautiful day! After church we went out for brunch. Husband played tennis in the afternoon and then the family made a trip downtown for dinner at Poogan's Porch. During the month of February they roll back their menu to prices from 25 (?) years ago and it's always a fun place to go! They have things that the teenagers will eat and not make a fuss over. While we were there we saw our "neighbors" with the sleep-over girlfriend! They were there with son and girlfriend and it was almost creepy the way they were acting- more like you would act with your son and the girl he was going to marry, not like your 15 year old son and his 14 year old girlfriend! I have to agree with some of the comments on my post about them...they are going to be grandparents waaaaay too soon! And the thing that is weird, is that they will probably be proud of it!
Husband's brother was supposed to come for a visit this past weekend. I cleaned like a mad woman on Friday, made sure the guest room was in pristine condition...sometimes son will sleep in there and so sheets needed to be changed, etc! I didn't hear from him with an arrival time, but since he was coming from Charlotte, thought it might be sometime in the evening. Husband and I decided to go out and grab something to eat, so I called BIL cell and didn't get an answer. Figured he was on the way and in an area with no service. So went out to dinner and son was home so he could greet him if we weren't home when he arrived. Made a few stops in the mall before we came home and BIL was still not there and hadn't heard from him. Decided to call again and see where he was. He answered this time, and would you believe he had decided NOT to come and "guessed he should have called to let us know"! I was so mad, there was just silence on my end when he told me that. He kept saying he was sorry and he needed to work on communication! Umm, yeah, you sure do buddy! The thing that really got me was that we didn't even invite him, he had called and asked if he could come down!
Happy March, y'all! No visitors this weekend! : )

I love Poogan's Porch! Hubby and I had dinner there while on our honeymoon. We're headed back down to Charleston in late July with the kids for one night - if you have any suggestions of what we should do or eat, please let me know! We're going to Fripp Island for the week and on our way home stopping for the day & night in Charleston.
ReplyDeleteHow rude! We used to go to Charleston for weekends when we lived in SC. One of the things I miss about living in the Palmetto State!
ReplyDeleteI would have been really mad about doing all of that cleaning and prepping for a guest and then not to have him come or call. At least the room is ready for the next guest.
ReplyDeleteI got the book in the mail today. Thanks so much!
If you can believe it, my kiddos had 2 days off from school due to weather this week! It was almost 60 degrees on Monday and then snow moved in and some areas in my county got 8 inches on Tuesday. So school was out yesterday and today (though baseball practice is still on!)....Spring, spring where art thou?
ReplyDeleteI sent you an email!
We haven't been to Poogan's in years. I think we're overdue, don't you? Gosh, what were the chances you'd see the people there that you'd just blogged about...that's wierd. Oh...another thing we have in common...irresponsible BILs...although I guess mine is a half-BIL. It always makes me feel better to know that he and Hank are just half brothers.
ReplyDeleteI love the house in that picture!! Is that the restaurant you were talking about?
