24 years of Wedded Bliss... Mostly!

Yesterday was my anniversary, twenty-four years to my prince!
I think he is a keeper!
The funniest thing was when I opened his card to me and, though not the same card, it had the exact same wording as the one I got for him! I guess 24 years with the same person will make you start to think alike!

It Was Quick but Fun

Teen daughter went home with my sister and her family after their time at the beach. So teen son and I made a quick trip up to Lake Norman to bring her home.
We had a great time hanging out in the lake and when BIL got home from work he took us on a boat ride.

We went past Michael Jordan's lake house. Reminds me of mine. NOT!

My nephews, who are six and eight, were so cute on the tube. Most of the time they had their thumbs up wanting their dad to go faster!

Is she texting on the boat? Actually, I think she just took a picture using her phone!

Teen son took a turn on the tube! And he had some crazy fun, until the rope broke!

And, no trip to Charlotte would be complete without a stop at Southpark Mall on our way home!
This is one of my all time favorite malls. They have Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Tory Burch, Kate Spade.... all my favorites! Unfortunately we didn't get to stay too long, we just hit up our favorite places and had to get back on the road, that was probably a good thing as far as hubby and the checkbook were concerned!

I am back from the beach.
We had a great time spending our last time together at our parent's beach house.
It was kind of sad thinking we will never get together again at this particular house. And it was so convenient for my family since we live only a 40 minute drive away!
But, we made the most of our time and made many good memories!

One night all the adults went out to dinner while teen daughter babysat the younger cousins.

Another night, all the girls went to one of those paint and drink wine places! I don't think drinking wine helped me any!

I would come downstairs in the morning and was greeted by lots of laptops set up on the dinning table! You'd think we could unplug for just a little while!

We spent lots of time on the beach!

My sister and BIL went to Spain in May and brought me a wonderful bottle of wine! They toured the vineyard and met the owner while they were there.

We celebrated two last birthdays while we were there!

And right as we were loading up the car to leave, teenage son jumped out of the car and said he needed to get a photo of the house since he didn't have one!

My sisters and I have decided that we need to just rent a house at the beach each summer.
It won't be the same, but i am sure we can make some great memories!

It's The End of an Era

I am heading to the Isle of Palms for the rest of the week.
My parents have a house there, but it has been sold and they close on it next month.
They bought this one when teen daughter was a baby.
So this will be our last gathering as a family.
Both of my sisters and their families will be there.
We want to enjoy every last minute.
We've done a lot there...

Celebrated many birthdays:

Celebrated many holidays:

And, spent many, many fun-filled days on the beach:

My parents are getting older and so is the rest of the family, and it is getting harder and harder for everyone to make use of the house.
They are thinking of buying a place on the lake nearer to their main home in the upstate of South Carolina. And if they do, I am sure we will make many memories there!

My First Thought Was to Start Gathering Two of Each Animal...

We had some crazy rain here last night! I think we ended up with about 8 inches in a little over an hour! There was so much water the streets started to flood. Two of the neighbor kids came and got our kayaks and went around the neighborhood!
Our son had been out on the river and ended up at a friend's house and he said there were cars with water up over their hoods on one of the main roads here in our town!

It's Official

The sign went in the yard today!
Now the waiting begins!

We decided to head to the lake house for the 4th of July weekend.
Son brought 4 friends and daughter brought one. So we have house full!
So far all I have done is cook and wash towels.
I think I may need a mini vacation when this long weekend is over!
Happy Independence Day!
