Wow! Maybe That Was a Hot Topic!

Thanks for all the comments on my last post!
I may have hit a nerve and by no means intended to do that. I was just honestly saying what I felt. Now, I feel so much more educated and have learned some things! And today I googled "my son wants to join the Marines" and got a lot more information!
No matter what teen son decides to do, husband and I will support him 100%. That was never in question. I will keep you posted!
We had a good weekend.
It was mostly rainy, which I sometimes like...it makes me stay home and cocoon!
We did venture out to Mass yesterday. I was stunned when the priest announced that Ash Wednesday was this week! Wow, where is the time going?

Then, husband and I went to see Safe House. It was entertaining. More violent than I had anticipated but I was surprised that the language wasn't that bad. The worst part of the whole experience was sitting in the movie theatre! It was packed and if you have been following me for very long, you know that I hate going to the movies! There were too many people and I could hear them breathing, and chewing and moving! And I swear I wasn't in there for 10 minutes before I started itching! I scratched the whole time! I just knew I was going to be covered in bed bugs or lice when I left! I'm starting to itch just thinking about it!!

I saw such a pretty sunset the other day, I tried to capture it with my camera.

Then today I was walking around in the yard and noticed that my camellias are blooming. There were some gorgeous blooms!

Hope you enjoyed your President's Day!

A Good Read

I just finished reading this book. I thought it was pretty good. The characters drew me in and I really wanted to know their story!
I am obsessed with stories that take place during WWI. And especially like to read those that deal with the holocaust. It is amazing to me that humans could treat one another that way. I guess I shouldn't say I like those stories, because I don't like that they happened and I normally get very upset reading them. I think we can learn so much from that horrible time.
On another note, it's Friday! And it's a three day weekend for the teens. Husband still has work on Monday, so no fun getaway for us!
And, speaking of the teens... our teen son, who is a junior in high school, just informed us that he wants to go into the military when he graduates. This has totally turned me upside down! From the day our children where born it has always been college, college, college! In fact, both our teen's educations have been paid for! We sacrificed so much so that we could save and invest so that we wouldn't have a problem sending them to college! I realize that he could change his mind but he really seems serious about his decision. I want to support him in whatever he does, but I have this preconceived notion that the military is for kids that aren't smart enough to get into college, or it was for the "bad" kids to do to get their lives on track. I "know' this isn't the case, but I need some someone to tell me this is going to be a good thing. Right now I feel like he is wasting his intelligence. So, send me your good, positive military stories of smart kids who did this and have become very successful in their lives! Help this momma feel good about her son's decision!

The Day After Valentine's Day

I am not a big lover of Valentine's Day. I don't want flowers just because you think you have to buy them for me, same with going out to dinner, gifts, etc!
I have been fortunate to have a husband that does sweet and loving things all through out the year, so Valentines is just a card giving holiday in our books.
He left a cute card on the counter for me in the morning. I made his favorite meal for supper last night... we had shrimp and pasta and grilled lobster tails. I made our favorite Key Lime Pie for dessert. I made cards for he and the teens. I always have a little something for them along with their card and this year daughter got a cute little pink bracelet and son got a McDonald's gift card. And there were cute cupcakes to eat along with their after school snacks.
How was your Valentine's Day?

Deliciousness!

We have been busy signing papers and getting information together for the new house. The inspection was yesterday and only two things were found that we need to have checked out, one being that the furnace didn't come on except in emergency mode. That's not good since it is in the "mountains" and it gets a lot colder there than it does here in the lowcountry! We need heat!
I am ready for a break and since teen son is grounded this weekend, I think we will head to the lake house. (He doesn't complain that we are taking him away from his friends, since he wouldn't be able to go out anyway!) I have a piece of furniture that I took up there last fall and it needs to be painted. So looks like my weekend is set!
Any good plans for the weekend?

I am Ready for a New Day!

I have recently started having anxiety attacks, most of which hit me in the middle of the night!
Last night I was awake dealing with one for a couple hours! UGH!
Then, I woke up this morning to find out that my uncle died early this morning after just being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer less than two weeks ago! :(
Payers to my cousins!
I am ready for tomorrow!

We Got It!

All the paperwork is signed!
We close in about 4-6 weeks.
The snowy photo is from last year, no snow yet this year! But, if they ever have it in the forecast it will be hard to keep me away!

Let the Negotiations Begin!

Husband called earlier this morning and asked if I was sure this was the house I wanted because he was getting ready to make an offer. I assured him it was and now the games begin!
Keep your fingers crossed that we get it!
