Isn't This Cute?

I took this with my camera phone, so it's not the best quality, but isn't the plaid so cute? In person the pink and green really stands out. I've seen this particular vehicle several times, but never parked. So, I just had to whip out the phone and snap a photo!

This Just Doesn't Seem Right!

Last night was Pokeno night with the girls. We always have such a fun time and last night is was a small group which made it even better!

I was talking to an "acquaintance", she would probably say I was her friend, I don't consider her my friend. I've mentioned her before: she was the one that left her son with us for a week back in the fall, she lets her son walk a couple miles to hang out at the movie theater and doesn't mind if he isn't home until after 11:00 at night, and it goes on and on!

Anyway, our sons haven't been hanging out much together lately. She told me her son has a girlfriend now and they spend all of their time together. Then she proceeds to tell me that her son's girlfriend (they are 15 and in the 9th grade) spends the night at their house sometimes. But, that it is okay because she sleeps in the boy's room and he sleeps in the playroom! Okay, am I a prude, because I just think this is inviting disaster? For one, I would NEVER allow my daughter to spend the night at a boyfriends house, I don't care who his parents were! And second, I wouldn't allow my son to have a girl spend the night at our home! This woman appears to think that this is just the sweetest thing!

What do you think? Am I overreacting?

Time Does Fly When You're Having Fun!

Today I was able to meet one of my blog friends in real life! Belle from Life of a Southern Belle, lives not very far from me and we had decided that we needed to meet for lunch one day. So today was the day and it was so funny because I felt like I was getting ready for a blind date! You know... does my hair look okay, what if we have nothing to talk about , etc!

We met at 11:30 at a little restaurant in my town that we both like. And do you know we didn't even look at our watches until my teens starting calling(it was 2:00!) me asking when I was going to be home! (I didn't tell them what I was doing, just that I had a meeting to go to!)

I had a great time talking and getting to know Belle and found that we are similar in many ways and weren't lacking for things to talk about! Hopefully we'll be able to get together again and perhaps even have some other blog friends join us!

It Snowed!

Living in the lowcountry of South Carolina, you don't see very much snow. When they started predicting snow for friday night, I was like "yeah, right!"

Right around 5:30 big flakes started to fall! I was so excited I stayed glued to the windows.

After about an hour, this is what our cars looked like:

It snowed continuously until well after midnight, when I finally went to sleep!

The next morning this is what the street in front of our house looked like:
The snow was already off the streets. Before I went to sleep you couldn't even see the street!

I did dig out some old ski pants that belonged to son and had her put them on!

Today it is 53º and most of the snow is gone! It was so pretty while it lasted!

Either I Read Too Much, or I'm Losing My Mind!

I was browsing in the book store today when I came across this book. I remembered that it was one that I had wanted to read, but couldn't remember if I had read it or not. So I read the back cover, flipped through and read a few pages and decided that I had not.

Fast forward to me at home. I get the book out and read a few more pages and something starts to seem very familiar... I go look in my reading journal where I record every book I read and.....

You got it! I read it last April!

Weekend rehearsals start tomorrow for her Spring ballet performance. And, my parents are in town at the beach house so we will probably stay local and have dinner with them tomorrow night.

No big super bowl plans, which is fine with me. I think we will just have our own little party here!

Smells get me! Add to that the fact that I have a weak stomach! This morning I had to make a stop at the library to pick up a book that was being held for me. I decided to make a quick look through the new releases when all of a sudden I caught a whiff of an odor. It smelled like what I would imagine someone would smell like if they hadn't bathed in a month! I looked around and didn't see anyone and was at first horrified that it was me, and I had just showered this morning! Then, as I proceeded down another aisle I smelled it again! I tried to inconspicuously smell myself and realized I was OK! This time I looked around and I spotted a youngish man who looked a little rough, a few bookcases over, and that's when I realized it was him and he was smelling up the whole new release section! I had to quickly leave because by that time I was starting to not feel very well. Next stop was the grocery store! Needless to say I was feeling a little queasy which made it very easy to stick to my list...
