Go Away Irene!

We are starting to feel the effects of Irene, here along the coast of SC.
Our kids went to school and then at 10:00 am I received a call saying they were going to dismiss at noon today because we may have high wind gusts later today! UGH! Way to ruin my Friday!
The rain started about 1 1/2 hours ago. It rains, then it stops, then it rains, then it stops! That's those outer bands coming on shore.
Stay safe all of you along the coast of the US!

Our weekend at the lake was wonderful!
Relaxing and quiet, just what we needed.
Got a text while we were there scheduling a showing of our house for this morning.
They wanted to come look between 10:00 and 11:00. Worked for me since everyone except me would be at work or school.
I went out to get some gas and when I was finished, since I am kind of nosey, I decided to come back by the house to see if any one was there yet. It was 10:15.
When I drove down my street I could see cars in the drive, one which had a FL tag.
So I headed off to get some iced coffee and read my book while I waited for them to finish.
At 10:55 I headed back to the house and when I turned down my street the cars where STILL in the driveway! As I passed I could see the realtor and the client coming out of the front door, so I pulled into my neighbors driveway. Neighbor was loading things in her truck (she's a horticulturist) and I got out and told her I was just going to wait until they left if she didn't mind. We started talking and they were still in my driveway, looking at the front and talking. Finally we went in to neighbors house since it was so hot outside.
When I came out about 30 minutes later they were gone.
When I got in the house I saw that there was a message on the answering machine and it was the scheduling service saying the agent wanted to schedule a second showing at 3:30 today!
So, I have been sitting here trying not to mess up anything in the house and waiting until the teens get out of school so I can message them and tell them to meet me in neighbor's driveway after school.
Maybe things are starting to happen for us?!

I am So Glad it's Friday!

This first week back to school has whipped my behind! And I'm not even in school!
I DID NOT get up at 6:00 during the summer! And having to get up this early is for the birds.
After fighting the traffic every morning this week I am ready for the weekend!
Tonight I am getting together with some girl friends for a fun night of Pokeno.
I think a trip to the lake is in order for tomorrow!

Back to School

I can't believe that our summer break is OVER!
Today the teens went back to school.
Daughter started high school! I can't believe I don't have a middle schooler any more.
Son is beginning his junior year. I can only pray that it is better than his sophomore year.
Traffic was crazy going to school. I really hope our house sells soon so we can move to the neighborhood that is close to school. Instead of it taking 40 minutes to go five miles and back, it will only take 5 minutes round trip!
Can't wait to hear all about their first day!

Quick Window Treatment

The kitchen window at the lake house has been naked for over four years!
About two or three years ago I found some fabric and decided that I would make a roman shade for it. Well, getting all the rings attached just right on the back was giving me fits, so I threw it all in a closet and figured I'd do something else.
Well, not long ago I was browsing around some blogs and found a faux roman shade that would be perfect! Richella from Imparting Grace had a quick tutorial on how she made hers and I knew I found the perfect fix!

Busy Times

Last Friday the teens and I drove up to Myrtle Beach to pick up our cousin, who was visiting from Miami. I thought it would be fun for her to spend a few days with us and her cousins that are around her age.
She is such a sweet girl! I think she enjoyed being a part of our family for awhile!
I drove her back to Myrtle Beach on Tuesday, then came back and went to registration for school.
Of course neither schedule was correct, so we did some schedule change requests and hope to have everything straight by the first day of school.
We had our first showing of the house on Saturday. Didn't hear anything, so guess it didn't suit them.
Stopped at the new Trader Joe's that opened up near the house on my way back from Myrtle Beach and was able to get a few things I have been wanting to try. The store just opened on Friday and it was still crazy crowded on Tuesday. I may hold off a few more weeks before I venture back!
Have lot's of dentist appointments and such to take care of before school starts back on the 15th.
Where did the summer go?
