Our Buddy

Our two cats don't even look twice when this little fella comes up and starts eating the cat food. In fact, most of the time they lay to the side and just watch him! My neighbors must think I am crazy because every night I stand at the front door and yell "GET OUT OF HERE!" and stomp my feet at him! And normally all that does is make him run around to the back deck!

Happy 15th Birthday!

We are celebrating teenage daughter's birthday with a meal of mussels in a white wine sauce over fresh pasta. Instead of a traditional birthday cake she asked for a strawberry cheesecake, which was baked last night and is cooling in the fridge.
We are heading to the lake for a family celebration tomorrow. Both sets of grandparents and assorted aunts and uncles and cousins will be visiting.
So glad the weather has turned cooler, it will be perfect weather for the weekend celebration!

Do You Think I Have Enough?

In my quest to find the perfect lipgloss, I have accumulated quite a collection! And these are just the ones in my makeup drawer.
Do you have a favorite?
I want one that is not too sticky with just the right amount of color. Apparently, so far I haven't found it! Though I do like those little Lorac ones, they taste good and have some great colors for the summer!

Happy 17th Birthday!

The Orange Dress

Husband, teenage daughter and her friend had a great time at the Clemson game on Saturday. Though, it was hot as Hades! Husband said he thought that was the hottest game he had ever been to!
I got the little sundress finished just in time for daughter to wear. It was a little longer than she would have liked, but I told her we could shorten it a bit after the fact. I got some purple grosgrain ribbon to use as a little tie and thought the whole thing looked pretty cute.... especially since I didn't even have a pattern to go by!

This week starts the birthday celebrations in our house! Husband's was yesterday, son's is Thursday and daughter's is a week from Friday! We will soon be overrun with cake, and that's something I don't need!

Random Bits

*We did NOT get an offer on our house last week. The woman brought her family to look later that day and they stayed for 1 1/2 hours! My realtor and I just knew they were going to make an offer, especially after they called wanting power bills, info on the neighborhood amenities and other stuff. We, and the other realtor, and from what I hear, the wife, were totally surprised to find out the husband decided that they would make an offer on a foreclosure in another neighborhood!
Oh well, I am trying to stay positive. I know that the right buyers will come along eventually!

*As soon as we arrive at the lake house I always cut some hydrangeas to bring in the house. This is what greeted me a couple weeks ago....
perfectly dried blossoms from the 4th of July weekend!

When we pack up to go, I just leave the cuttings in the vase, along with whatever water is left. And normally by the next time we arrive, they are dried!

*Today I bought some fabric to make teen daughter a little sundress to wear to the Clemson game. She wanted something orange and we were never able to find anything that she liked. So, it's mom and her awesome sewing skills to the rescue!

*I am so ready for fall to get here! I am loving that this morning was a little cooler than it has been and it looks like this weather is going to be hanging around for at least the next five or so days!
