Regrouping!

Back from the lake house. Daughter went home with one of our neighbors up there on Sunday. Son and I will go back tomorrow night to claim her. Then Thursday morning we are driving to visit hubby's parents in Myrtle Beach for a couple days. Hubby's cousin is in town visiting his grandmother and she is the same age as our son. The kids have a great time together, so I thought it would be fun to make a quick visit.
Sunday afternoon was soooo hot, so I was spending a little time inside and was sitting at the table "playing" on the laptop, when I looked up and thought "I really love that little rooster under that table!"

The hydrangeas are still in full bloom, so I cut some to bring inside, as I always do when we are there.
Hubby went to take his dad out to lunch on Father's Day, a two hour drive to Myrtle Beach from the lake! His dad sent him back with some fresh, homegrown tomatoes! They are so yummy! I have been eating tomatoe sandwiches for lunch ever since.

Enjoy the rest of the week!

Oh, This Heat!

We've been to the lake for a few days.
Came back home for a few days.
Got together with the girls for Pokeno last night.
Heading to a 5 year old neighbor's dance recital this afternoon and then going back to the lake for a few more days!
Even being at the lake it is HOT! The pool water feels like bath water! And unless you are in really deep water, the lake is warming up too! And it's only the middle of June!
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer and staying cool!

5 Summer Favorites

*Reading by the pool
* Edy's Tangerine Fruit Bars! The tangerine is hard to find, but oh so good!

*OPI nailpolish in Coney Island Cotton Candy. A great color for fingernails!

*A Lillet Cocktail!
I take a little of the Lillet, add some fresh squeezed orange juice and orange flavored seltzer. Perfect for a hot summer night!

*Fresh Peaches!

We are full swing into summer! The kids are spending their days at the pool and we are heading to the lake for a while tomorrow. Poor hubby, he is the only one that is still on a schedule. :(
Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend.

Change of Plans

Even though I had been complaining about the drive to Charlotte to my nephew's birthday party, I had resigned myself to the fact that it was a necessary evil. Well, low and behold, daughter wakes up in the middle of the night throwing up! She still isn't 100% this morning, so we are at home. I called sister and told her that we will plan to get together in a couple weeks, either at her house or ours.
I even had her birthday present, that I never mailed, ready to give her. I made some brown sugar scrub.
It's very easy to make. Here are the ingredients you need:

I just mix equal parts of the sugars. Then add the jojoba oil until it looks right. You don't want it to be too greasy. Then I add any essential oil that I want. I just add drops until it smells the way I want.I used tangerine this time.It smells really yummy!
I guess since we have no plans now, I can finish getting caught up on things here around the house.

Wrapping it Up!

Today is one of those one minute the sun is shining, the next it is pouring, kind of days!
Tuesday night we had to go to daughter's school for her science class performance. It was fantastic! If you've been a reader for long, you will remember she attends the middle school of the arts. So, the performance Tuesday night was called "The Black Hole". They had just finished their unit on space and they took all that they learned and made a "show" out of it! There was poetry read, solos sung and dances danced. The whole classroom was draped in black fabric with the solar system suspended from the middle of the ceiling. There were constellations attached to the walls of black fabric. When it began the lights went down and black lights came on. I was so impressed with the whole thing. I wish I could have taken pictures, but it would have been kind of hard in the dark!
Then, last night we made and decorated sugar cookies for her English class. They are finishing a unit on poetry and are having a picnic today.
Just two and a half more days of school. I just found out that all my son's classes have been doing is watching movies since about midweek last week! I can understand that maybe final grades have to be turned in before school is actually over, but whatever happened to learning just for the sake of learning?! Gosh knows, if it's not on the state standardized test, they aren't going to learn about it!
Little nephew turns four on Saturday, so looks like a drive to Charlotte is in order. I. HATE. THAT. DRIVE! And the party is late in the day, so that means we will be late getting home. Normally I would spend the night, but my sister has a "crazy" sis-in-law, that I just don't feel like having to deal with for very long, in addition to my "crazy" parents being there!
I am so ready to pack up and move up to the lakehouse for a while!

A Week Of Cleaning

Am I the only one who does this?
My kids will be out of school for the summer after next Tuesday. So, this week I am cleaning and organizing like a mad woman. I like to start the summer off with a VERY clean and organized house! I feel like we are around the house so much more in the summer that if I don't do this now it will be really yucky by the time school starts back at the end of August!
And, does anyone else find that teenage boy's rooms have a certain "smell" to them? Ugh, I'll be tackling THAT too!
