School is out for summer in 2 days!
Meanwhile, I am running around getting things ready for daughter's confirmation on Sunday. Family members are coming, though not staying with us (hence the reason to get rid of all the extra guest rooms!).
New carpet has been ordered.
Trim on house has been professionally cleaned.
I am slowly getting through my list of "things that have to be done before the house goes on the market"!
I can't believe that I have only two days left of middle school carpool! :(
Can you tell my mind is racing?

I May Regret This...

We are getting our house ready to put on the market!
I really want to downsize. We have two bedrooms that NEVER get used, a formal living room that basically "holds" furniture, and a third full bath that just started getting used within the last six months!
Plus, after a while I start to get antsy and need a new house to decorate!
So, we have decided to put the house on the market and see what happens....
We won't buy unless we sell. We are enjoying not having a mortgage! I have found some houses (pictured above) that I would be interested in and they are soooo cheap! So, what really has me going on this deal is that if we can sell our house, we can buy one of these and still have money left to buy a little house in the mountains! And no mortgages on any of them!
The downside is that we have lived in this house for almost nine years. Our teens are 14 and 16, so there has been some hard living in this house! I had a guy come by this morning to measure for new carpet and we have a guy coming on Wednesday to clean the driveway and eaves of the house. I need to replace the oven, as it has pretty much quit working and the repairman won't even bother fixing it! They say just get a new one! And I have a little list of other cosmetic things to take care of.
I am excited about the possibility of a newer house, but I love our neighbors here.
Decisions, decisions!

We Appreciate Our Teachers!

It is teacher appreciation week, so yesterday we had a lunch for the teachers at daughter's middle school.
This was my last event as Hospitality Chairman at the school since daughter will be moving on to high school next year.
We went with a Mexican theme and served Chicken Enchilada Casserole, Spinach Salad, Lemon Pound cake with strawberries and served Mock-Sangria and water to drink. We even had a couple unexpected donations of Pad Thai and Spring Rolls, made by two of our mothers! It wasn't Mexican, but it was GOOD!
I think I can honestly say a good time was had by all!
And, that was just one more weight lifted off my shoulders!

One Weight Had Been Lifted Off My Shoulders

(Friend, daughter, friend)

Friday night was the 8th grade dance at daughter's school. She and her friends were so excited.
A couple came over before the dance for photos.
Sounded like a great time was had by all!
Saturday morning the husband and I headed up to the lake house for an HOA meeting. Since I was president I had to be there. But, after serving as President for two years, I am DONE! I told husband that I felt like a huge weight had been lifted. He said he never realized it bothered me.
Now I just have to get through this week and I will be totally free from some major obligations... secretary of the women's club in the neighborhood, and chairman of the hospitality committee at daughter's school. I was telling a friend about it and she said not to get excited, I would be volunteering for something else in no time! She knows me too well! But, I think I might just enjoy my summer before I get myself into something else!
