Night Out!

Tonight is the night I get together with friends to play pokeno. And as has become custom, we make it a homemade pokeno in January. That means that the prize you bring has to be homemade! It's a lot of fun to see what all these creative girls come up with.
This year I made a little throw pillow. I had seen one similar on a blog somewhere and decided to make one myself. I kind of like the way it turned out! I think I may make one for myself! I think it looks better in person.... since I can't find the charger for my camera's battery, I am having to use teenage son's point and shoot!
Happy Weekend!

Is It Just My Town?

It seems to me that a red light is just a suggestion here in my small town! I mean, if you are in a hurry and really don't feel like stopping, then just go on through!
I started to pull out into the intersection after I had the green light two different times today and there were not one, but two cars just driving right on through the red light!
I have noticed this happening a LOT lately! Is it just me, or have you noticed this too?

An Award

Thank you! I feel so honored! ;)
It's been a week or so since I got this award from Michelle over at Southern Somedays. Every time I went to write a post something came up! Thanks so much Michelle! If you haven't visited her blog, you must! She recently moved back to South Carolina and has posted some great makeovers of the rooms in the house they bought.
Now, I am supposed to tell seven things about me!
Lets see:
1. I was totally gray by the time I was 30! Most people would never guess! I actually started turning gray in high school!
2. My husband and I are going to join the Peace Corps when our youngest graduates from college.
3. I want to move back to the country and have chickens and some goats and learn to make goat cheese.
4. I don't keep leftover food from our meals. I know it is wasteful, but something about the food reheated just makes me shiver!
4. There is a new trash bag commercial that comes on that shows some woman washing her garbage and another that puts it in little bags before she puts it in the garbage... that is me! And I didn't think it was a strange thing to do! If you opened up our big garbage bag you would find lots of little bags in it.
5. I cannot stand to smell burning leaves! I read blogs that say they love the smell of burning leaves. Really? Yuck!
6. I don't like to clean, but it drives me crazy if my husband starts cleaning the house.
7. Years ago, I used to do a radio program twice a week in connection with my job. When people would meet me they would tell me that I didn't sound like I did on the radio. I would tell them that was because I was using my radio voice!

A request

Please keep this sweet family in your prayers! He just underwent a liver transplant with a "piece" of liver donated by his wife! They live two doors down from us and daughter babysits their children.
Thanks!

New Years Eve

(Some of the guys, including husband on the far end, digging into the oysters!)

(A table of neighbors)

We headed to our house at the lake for New Years Eve. We live in a small gated community and all that happen to be around get together for a NYE party every year. It's alot of fun and we normally have an oyster roast and then everyone brings a dish to share.
This year I made Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers. Oh, they are so good!
We have one neighbor that buys around $600 worth of fireworks and sets them off at midnight. Well, apparently one of the homeowners complained on the 4th of July that stuff hit his roof, so no fireworks this year! :( We did watch those that a nearby restaurant/bar did, but they weren't as good as ours normally are!
I took three photos and then my camera battery died! And, I can't find the battery charger! UGH!

Christmas Memories

Opening the "loot" at grandma and grandpa's house

Daughter got her snuggie! She looks like a giant... I was sitting on the floor when she turned and said "take my picture!"
Really hard to get a good photo of all the grandkids with grandma!

Grandma listening to my nephew play the piano.

We went to my sister's house for brunch. They found this halloween decoration that was being thrown out and decided to take it home and use it for christmas. (This is the sister and her husband who have no children.) It's hard to tell but the top two ghosts are sharing a set of antlers!
Opening gifts on christmas morning at our house.

Kitty loved the empty boxes and paper!

A bakery down the street from my house made the best macaroons!

Part of my collection of christmas houses. Some are new but most are vintage!

The day after christmas it started snowing! We were in Myrtle Beach visiting with the inlaws. In their back yard is a little pond that had some swans in it. I was trying to capture the snow falling and the swans, but you can only see the back of one(right by the tree) as it started swimming away.

Still snowing on our way home!

A little bit of snow in the yard when we woke up on Monday!

We had a wonderful holiday. It was great visiting with family, going out for breakfasts with husband the week he was home from work and going to afternoon movies with him!
Now, I have to get busy and start taking down the decorations, I normally don't until the Epiphany.
Happy New Year!
