Back From My Self Imposed Exhile!

Yea! This week's Monday was uneventful and I am hoping that the rest of my week is going to go well.
Not wanting to go into a lot of detail about last Monday's problem, but I will just say we had to have the alarm company come out to the house to put alarm contacts on the upstairs windows! Not to keep people out, but to keep them in! I'll leave it at that. At least I am sleeping better at night!
Went to the lake house on Saturday. Opened the door to hear a high pitched "alarm" going off. We don't have an alarm system there! It ended up being the smoke detectors! Had to disable them by taking the batteries out. The weather was nice. Daughter brought a friend and they had a great time hanging out on the dock and spending time in the hot tub.
Getting ready for spring break next week. Have committments on both weekends, so won't be going anywhere, which is fine with the teens! They would rather just spend time with friends locally!
Saturday nephew makes his first communion. So we will be heading toward Charlotte to attend. Then spending night with my sister and then back to other side of the family for lunch on Easter. BIL's birthday is Sunday and MIL's is this Friday, so we will celebrate those as well. I have lots of gifts to purchase this week!
Pedicure is finished, off to finish more errands!
Happy Tuesday!

And This Monday Isn't Any Better!

If this keeps up I don't know what I'm liable to do!
Major bad monday.
Will be taking a break for awhile.
Hope to be back.

What is it with me and Mondays?

Husband sent an email. (He is now taking son to school, since we couldn't depend on "friend" to consistently pick him up and/or get to school on time.) Email says he was stopped for going 62 in a 55! Out on a secondary road in the middle of nowhere! Two points and an $85 fine!

And just now I was finishing vacuuming my car (which I do every other day, OCD anyone?), and stepped on a sweet gum ball while carrying the vacuum back toward the garage, which caused me to kind of jerk myself to keep from falling. Well, now I can barely stand up straight!

I think I would like to start this day over please!
ETA: Unfortunately, it is husband, not "friend". who got the ticket....trying to get to work after fighting the traffic going to the high school! :(

Whew!

We had our appointment with the orthopaedic doctor yesterday. He diagnosed very mild scoliosis. Of course when I had seen the results from the radiologist I immediately started thinking of back braces, steel rods in the back, etc, etc! But, since she is still growing and going through a growth spurt right now and since it is curved less than 5º, we are going to only do some physical therapy and just keep an eye on it for the next couple years!

She is a dancer, in fact she attends the middle school of the arts in dance and she dances 3 days a week after school, so to say I was concerned was somewhat of an understatement. But, there will be no interruption of her dancing, and with spring performances coming up that is a good thing!

Not a Good Way to Start Off the Week!

Teenage son normally rides to school with an 11th grade friend from the neighborhood. This morning, said friend just drove on by because he decided he wasn't going to take him today! No text, no call, nothing! When son sent text to the other boy in the car, he said that "Josh" said he wasn't going to pick him up today. So, I throw a coat on over my toile flannel pjs and we rush out the door and to school. The whole time I am praying that no one hits me because I really don't want to have to talk to a policeman in my pjs, even if they are pretty cute! Son is late. UGH! I understand teens can fight and have disagreements, if that is even the case, but at least be curteous so other transportation arrangements can be made!

I'm one of those people that likes routine and for everything to follow a plan, and the least little thing that causes my plan to deviate throws me into a tailspin! What does that say about me? Probably nothing good! ;)

We headed to the lake on Saturday. It was a goreous weekend and was a great break from the hustle and bustle of our life in town! Son was not feeling well, so he stayed in bed most of the time and daughter brought a friend along and they kept each other company. Not many of the neighbors were there so it was really quiet, but sometimes that is exactly what I want!

Today I have to take daughter to the orthopedic doctor. She has been complaining about a pain in her back and we went to her doctor Thursday, had x-rays on Friday and doctor referred us to orthopedist (?) for an appointment today. I am a little worried, but will wait and see what he has to say today.

It is supposed to be almost 70º today! And the maple trees are blooming, which I am very allergic to and I am starting to feel the effects!

Well, back to my highly stuctured and planned morning!

Have a great day!

Happy March!

Hello? Where did February go? I can't believe that two months of the new year are already gone. It almost makes me have a panic attack!
We had a great weekend here in SC. Yesterday was a beautiful day! After church we went out for brunch. Husband played tennis in the afternoon and then the family made a trip downtown for dinner at Poogan's Porch. During the month of February they roll back their menu to prices from 25 (?) years ago and it's always a fun place to go! They have things that the teenagers will eat and not make a fuss over. While we were there we saw our "neighbors" with the sleep-over girlfriend! They were there with son and girlfriend and it was almost creepy the way they were acting- more like you would act with your son and the girl he was going to marry, not like your 15 year old son and his 14 year old girlfriend! I have to agree with some of the comments on my post about them...they are going to be grandparents waaaaay too soon! And the thing that is weird, is that they will probably be proud of it!
Husband's brother was supposed to come for a visit this past weekend. I cleaned like a mad woman on Friday, made sure the guest room was in pristine condition...sometimes son will sleep in there and so sheets needed to be changed, etc! I didn't hear from him with an arrival time, but since he was coming from Charlotte, thought it might be sometime in the evening. Husband and I decided to go out and grab something to eat, so I called BIL cell and didn't get an answer. Figured he was on the way and in an area with no service. So went out to dinner and son was home so he could greet him if we weren't home when he arrived. Made a few stops in the mall before we came home and BIL was still not there and hadn't heard from him. Decided to call again and see where he was. He answered this time, and would you believe he had decided NOT to come and "guessed he should have called to let us know"! I was so mad, there was just silence on my end when he told me that. He kept saying he was sorry and he needed to work on communication! Umm, yeah, you sure do buddy! The thing that really got me was that we didn't even invite him, he had called and asked if he could come down!
Happy March, y'all! No visitors this weekend! : )
