Easter morning started off gray and rainy. Teen son had to work from 9-2, so I knew he wouldn't be going to Mass with us. So teen daughter, husband and I headed to church after dropping son off at work.
I wish I had had my camera with me because the altar was decorated so beautifully! In years past we had just had lilies used around the altar, but this year it was an assortment of different whites, and pinks and yellows and greens from all sorts of different flowers! It was breathtaking!
I planned our Easter meal to be at 2:00 when son got off work. I made a ham, cheesy potato casserole, fruit salad, roasted asparagus and rolls. I think everyone was happy with the selection. And since I don't eat meat, I filled up on the potatoes, asparagus and fruit!
Yesterday I worked the polls for the run-off for the our congressional delegate. Another long, tiring day! I still feel like I could use some more sleep. Now the actual election will be on May 7th. I had to laugh because those of us who work bring food to share so that we have breakfast and lunch available. Well, we've already planned the food for the general election! I am beginning to think that the food is the most important and the voting is secondary! ;)

DOTR works the polls--he's actually worked his way up to precinct manager--and the last 2 elections he was on that HCG diet, so I had to bring him lunch and dinner. But there's always lots of good food there. One of my friends also works the polls with him occasionally and she makes this killer snack mix...hope she's working next time! We just had a SPLOST election with less than 20 percent turnout and that makes for a really long day. DOTR is always wiped out for a couple days afterward. I don't know how all those senior citizens do it!
ReplyDeleteAww what a pretty photo of your daughter!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the Easter card :) Perfect timing because I had just found out that my sister is moving to Charleston!
