Teen daughter and I headed to the lake house on Thursday. Husband and teen son would drive up after work, it's only about a 45 minute drive on the interstate.
I was so happy to be there! It was pretty quiet on Thursday, not many neighbors around. Friday people started dribbling in and by Saturday the place was hopping!
I was able to visit with one of my neighbors that I hadn't seen since New Year's Eve! We had a great time catching up. Then one of my other neighbors popped in and we figured out that we hadn't seen each other since early fall or late summer!
I had taken a cabinet up last fall to go in the corner of the dinning area. It is slowly coming together. It needed to be painted and it needs some new knobs for the doors at the bottom. It had been so long since we had been there I had forgotten about the knobs, so it is still without! I took some of my McCoy pottery pieces up to see how they would look displayed in it. I think I like it and need to gather up the rest.
My hydrangeas were blooming pretty well. I had seen on a blog somewhere where they used a straw bag to display flowers. I remembered I had one of those bags in the closet here at home, so I grabbed it and took it with me. I snipped some hydrangeas and filled a jar with water. Stuck it all in the bag and tied it to one of the french doors that we don't use. I like the way it turned out!
In the latest edition of Martha Stewart Living I saw a recipe for Coconut Cake with Berries and Cream. I had lots of berries and thought it would be a great dessert. Oh my gosh, it is delicious!
We decided to come home late on Saturday night since we had been away last weekend and missed church. So Sunday ended up being pretty low key... church, family lunch, then everyone went their separate ways for the afternoon.
So now it's Monday and I have a lot on my to do list this week! I'd better get going if I want to get anything accomplished!
Your flower arrangement is lovely!
