We had a great time celebrating my MIL and FIL's 50th anniversary last Saturday. I was glad all of their children could be together with them and half of the grandchildren. We had a small dinner at my grandmother-in-law's home. I was in charge of the wine and the cake since we had to make the two hour drive to Myrtle Beach.
We did a "girls" photo with four generations of family:

This week is the second week of summer break and the teens have spent most of their time at the pool!
I have been getting all the last minute things together for son, who leaves for Australia on Monday.
I had picked up the book The Postmistress by Sarah Blake the other day at the library. I have to say, I just can't get into it! I had heard some really good things about it, but I just don't care for the writing style. Oh well, guess I'll return it and focus on my other book, Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls. I really loved The Glass Castle and hope this will be good too.
Any good suggestions for summer reading?
I like Karen White. She has a couple of books about Charleston (The House on Tradd Street and the sequel..something about Legare Street?). I just read On Folly Beach. She lives in Alpharetta, but sets most of her books in the lowcountry.
ReplyDeletedon't you just love summer time? and all the fun stuff we get to do. I am anxious to hear your thoughts on half broke horses. I really loved the first book of hers. If you like books that read like that one try RIck Bragg's books- All Over But the Shoutin' is one of my all time favs.. xo hugs xo
